Using the Microsoft Power Platform for Automation at Berkshire Healthcare
The Microsoft Power Platform plays a key role in supporting Robotic Process Automation (RPA) at Berkshire Healthcare, helping us improve efficiency, accuracy, and patient care.
Since launching in April 2023, all our automations run on unattended licences, allowing digital robots to work independently across departments. Using Power Automate, we streamline tasks like data entry, appointment scheduling, and billing—reducing errors and freeing staff to focus on patients. With AI Builder and RPA, we also automate complex processes such as extracting data from unstructured documents and integrating with legacy systems.
Power Automate for desktop enables automation across Windows environments, including updating patient records across multiple systems. Power Apps lets us build custom applications to support patient intake, care management, and telehealth, while Power BI helps us visualise data, track KPIs, and make informed decisions. Dataverse provides secure, centralised data storage that integrates with our systems and complies with healthcare regulations.
Our Center of Excellence (CoE) ensures governance, standardisation, and ongoing support for citizen developers, fostering innovation and collaboration across the Trust. Together, the Power Platform, Dataverse, and CoE have transformed how we work—automating routine tasks, improving data quality, and creating a more efficient, patient-focused healthcare environment.
